This project was born out of a deeply personal journey of grief, loss, confusion, and anger. After experiencing a painful personal loss, I found myself unable to express the overwhelming emotions I was feeling—there were no words for the melancholy or rage. Instead, I turned to code and creativity as a form of meditation, focus, and healing. Designing the artwork and sound experience became a way to channel these emotions and make sense of the chaos.

The accompanying visual artwork imagines the afterlife as a place of surreal beauty—a stunning mix of pink deserts, rugged, windy mountains, and vibrant floral fields. Despite the breathtaking landscapes, a somber truth lingers: its inhabitants are deceased, lying in glamorous repose, elegantly dressed as if paused mid-celebration. These otherworldly beings, like statues at a grand ball, rest eternally among the whispering winds and lush flowers, their vibrant lives echoed in the landscape around them. The scene is both beautiful and macabre, blending the sublime with the unsettling. It reflects the eternal dance between creation and decay, a theme that carries into the soundscape.

In translating this world into sound, I used mathematics as a bridge between human emotion and technology. By manipulating musical elements such as dissonant chords, complex rhythms, and distortion, the soundscape mirrors the emotional chaos and intensity that accompany grief and loss. Algorithms and randomness shape the unpredictable flow of the music, much like the unpredictable nature of grief itself.

As users interact with the soundscape, they create a constantly evolving experience—a sonic reflection of the emotional turmoil that is both structured and chaotic. Technology here isn’t just a tool; it’s a medium that allows for a deep expression of emotions through formulas, oscillations, and frequencies. This merging of art and technology creates something both fractured and intentional, much like the experience of grief itself. It challenges traditional notions of control in art, making space for interpretation, randomness, and the emotions that lie just beneath the surface of precision.
